Guinness Beef Stew with a Secret Ingredient

Ahhh Beef Stew, it is perfect and oh so comforting in the winter! I took your traditional beef stew and but I had to kick that puppy up a notch. What should I add? BEER! Not just any beer, but Guinness! So you got this subtle dark beer flavor with your beefy goodness, just to kick those notes of espresso to the next level, I added the secret ingredient…..
What you need
- 1.4 pounds cubed flank steak
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon Light Olive Oil
- 1 1/2 medium onion, diced
- 1 1/2 cups of Guinness Beer
- 3 carrots, peeled and sliced
- 3 potatoes, cubed
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons **secret ingredient**
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon curry
- 4 cups beef stock
How to make it
1- In a bowl mix together flour salt, pepper and chili powder.
2- Toss the cubed beef in there getting all of the pieces covered on all sides with the flour mixture.
3- In a Dutch oven heat up your oil on medium high heat.
4- Toss in the flour covered beef and brown the beef.
5- Add in your onions and cook them until caramelized.
6- Pour in your Guinness oh and let yourself take a nice whiff of that amazing aroma! Let than cook down for a couple minutes.
7- Place in your carrots, potatoes, tomato paste. Stir well.
8- Then add your **secret ingredient**, cinnamon and curry until well mixed.
9- Lastly add the beef stock.
10- Place in oven at 300ยบ for about 1 hour.
