Slow Cooker Oktoberfest Beer Brats
Slow Cooker Oktoberfest Beer Brats
It’s not just Pumpkin Season, it’s Oktoberfest so Let’s Get Our German on!!
Just yesterday I walked outside and it was here and it smacked me in the face… Autumn. The smell, that crisp snap of the winds of change. A couple leaves on the ground. Then I woke up and needed to wear tights!
Gone are the days of flip flops and bare legs of 2015… it’s time to embrace the coming season.
Speaking of changes… make sure you see the bottom of this post for information on Beer + Yoga, my first ever event I’m hosting!
And in embracing the season, comes the foods of the season. Lest we forget fall is not just about pumpkin my friends, there is a WHOLE world out there!
In Munich on September 19th, Oktoberfest is celebrated.
Beer lovers and food lovers rejoice! I gotcha covered with a super easy, super beery recipe that will impress those all around you!
Beer brats are a staple in any manly diet, but ladies this is actually not all that bad for you. (You just need to get past the phallic look of the great bratwurst!) (PS- is that why dudes like ’em so much?) LOL
So I was at Trader Joe’s and I saw some great fresh bratwurst and a friend of mine posted that she was making sauerkraut and brats in the slow cooker with beer… when Autumn smacked me in the face, I knew it was happening in my slow cooker!!
So I picked up the bratwurst, some fresh fermented sauerkraut, fresh shredded cabbage and I had the rest at home. In true NY Foodgasm fashion I winged the shit outta it. But it was fabulous my friends and so I HAD to share with you!
My Beer Pick
My new favorite Oktoberfest beer is Dead Ringer by Ballast Point! It’s got a beautiful deep caramel color and notes of caramel in the flavor. The malt definitely plays a key role in this beer! It’s light, crisp and easy to drink… but at 6% ABV it’s not one to pound down and drink a few.
I used an entire bottle of this amber colored beauty for these beer brats and it made a sauce to die for!!
